Wellness
Research done by the National Institute of Mental health indicates that 1 in 5 youth ages 13-18 live with a mental health condition. The World Health Organization tells us that the consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults. The good news is that promoting positive mental health can prevent some problems from starting. Interventions to promote students’ mental health aim to strengthen protective factors and enhance alternatives to risk-taking behaviors. Promotion of mental health and well-being helps adolescents in building resilience so that they can cope well in difficult situations or adversities.
